Wouldn’t it be great to have one fitness activity that strengthens weak muscles and relaxes tight ones at the same time, while also improving cardiovascular health and enhancing mind-body awareness?
What if the only equipment you need is air and gravity? What if you can do it anywhere, anytime, even while sitting at your computer? What if you can start right now, as you are, and you can always and easily start again after any break? What if the movements feel good while you are doing them and after? Fitness is personal. What does fitness mean to you?
A parent with back pain might view fitness as the ability to pick up her children and tickle them and carry them while they laugh.
For an older person, fitness might be walking comfortably again, no longer using a cane or walker.
A runner might define fitness by his or her times; a golfer or tennis player in terms of score.
You might consider fitness to be staying more alert and focused at your job, so you can have more success and security. Or playing golf or tennis all day, and still having energy for an evening of fun with family and friends. Or recovering quickly from knee surgery. Or having the vitality to embark on some new adventure.
Fitness is about respiration, not perspiration™
A vital step toward greater fitness is learning to breathe more fully, easily, and naturally.
Better breathing enhances health and fitness in many ways. It strengthens the immune system to resist colds and flu, improves circulation and nerve activity, accelerates recovery from stress, and helps us be alert and focused. Breathing effectively is vital to benefit from any exercise or fitness program.
Many of us breathe shallowly and sometimes hold our breath. Inadequate breathing is stressful, and exacerbates pain, strain, stiffness, and discomfort. Habits of shallow, inadequate breathing are a common reason people fail at their efforts to become more fit.
Find out how breathing better leads to easier movement and greater fitness. Find out how easy it can be.
